Biden Gets Asked REAL Questions!

From DoctorBulldog:

The Barack Obama campaign called Barbara West’s interview with Sen. Joe Biden unprofessional and combative.
The veteran WFTV-Channel 9 anchor-reporter says she asked pointed questions and respects Sen. Biden, who is Sen. Obama’s running mate.
In a call to me Friday evening, West said of Biden: “I have a great deal of respect for him. I have a great deal of respect for Sen. Obama. We are given four minutes of a satellite window for these interviews. Four precious minutes. I got right down to it and, yes, I think I asked him some pointed questions. These are questions that are rolling about right now and questions that need to be asked. I don’t think I was rude or inconsiderate to him. I think I was probing and maybe tough. I can’t believe that in all of his years in politics, and all of his campaigning and such, that he hasn’t run into some tough questions before. He’s certainly up to it in giving good answers.”

Something Smells

While the headline could easily apply to the Obama campaign, (donations to ACORN, questionable donations from domestic and foreign contributers, outright lies in their ad campaign) this is something different:
The Stink in Farts Controls Blood Pressure

A smelly rotten-egg gas in farts controls blood pressure in mice, a new study finds.
I wonder how the scientists determined the smell of mouse farts...

The unpleasant aroma of the gas, called hydrogen sulfide (H2S), can be a little too familiar, as it is expelled by bacteria living in the human colon and eventually makes its way, well, out.
A little too familiar, yup ask any wife ...

The new research found that cells lining mice's blood vessels naturally make the gas and this action can help keep the rodents' blood pressure low by relaxing the blood vessels to prevent hypertension (high blood pressure). This gas is "no doubt" produced in cells lining human blood vessels too, the researchers said.
No doubt just as relaxing to pass it as well... This sounds like one of those "win, win" situations

"Now that we know hydrogen sulfide's role in regulating blood pressure, it may be possible to design drug therapies that enhance its formation as an alternative to the current methods of treatment for hypertension," said Johns Hopkins neuroscientist Solomon H. Snyder, M.D., a co-author of the study detailed in the Oct. 24th issue of the journal Science.
More beans...

Snyder and his colleagues compared normal mice to mice that were missing a gene for an enzyme known as CSE, long suspected as being responsible for making hydrogen sulfide. As they measured hydrogen sulfide levels taken from tissues of the CSE-deficient mice, the scientists found that the gas was depleted in the cardiovascular systems of the altered mice. By contrast, normal mice had higher levels of the gas, thereby showing that hydrogen sulfide is naturally made by mammalian tissues using CSE.
So I guess thousands of men will now be telling their wives that far from being disgusting they are normal and healthy...

Next, the mice were subjected to higher blood pressures comparable to serious hypertension in humans. Scientists had them respond to a chemical called methacholine that relaxes normal blood vessels. The blood vessels of the CSE-lacking mice hardly relaxed, indicating that hydrogen sulfide is a huge contender for regulating blood pressure. So since I have high blood pressure and suffer no lack of hydogen sulfide, I guess that means...more beans! My poor wife and children. Please pray for them...

Hydrogen sulfide is the most recently discovered member of a family of gasotransmitters, small molecules inside our bodies with important physiological functions. Gasotransmitters...heh

This study is the first to reveal that the CSE enzyme that triggers hydrogen sulfide is activated itself in the same way as other enzymes when they trigger their respective gasotransmitter, such as a nitric oxide-forming enzyme that also regulates blood pressure, Dr. Snyder said.
Because gasotransmitters are common in mammals all over the evolutionary tree, these findings on the importance of hydrogen sulfide are thought to have broad applications to human diseases, such as diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases
.

Maybe it's more related to politics than I thought..

The Gore Effect

The Gore Effect: The phenomenon that leads to unseasonably cold temperatures, driving rain, hail, or snow whenever Al Gore visits an area to discuss global warming. Priceless.
From The Reference Frame:
...In Cambridge, the warmest October 22nd occurred in 1979 when the temperature climbed to 83 °F. Well, it doesn't look like what they see today. Even the average high temperature for this day is 60 °F which is still far too high. After the noon, the temperature in Cambridge is 44.5 °F. Tonight, it is predicted to drop to 34 °F, close to the record low of 28 °F measured in 1940.
The forecast for Greater Boston from Sunday looked even more dramatic. Al Gore's speech was on Wednesday. Click the picture to see that on Sunday, they actually predicted snow for Wednesday. That didn't happen, after all, but nearby Vermont did receive its first snow this year today. For Thursday night (the day after ... the speech), the temperature in Cambridge is forecast to drop below the freezing point to 28 °F which, if true, will beat the record low temperature set in 1883, which means exactly 125 years ago, when it was 29 °F. Not bad! (Sorry, during Thursday, the prediction of 28 °F for tonight was raised to 31 °F; not quite a record but still below freezing.) (more here)

Same-Sex Marriage Isn't Tolerant

From STR:

Just a few examples that demonstrate same-sex marriage isn't neutral. It's about normalization and approval as a federal judge ruled. Government can't be neutral when it's condones something in the law. And that has consequences for individuals.

  • At my own children's high school there was a school-wide assembly to celebrate same-sex “marriage” in early December, 2003.
  • Within months it was brought into the middle schools. In September, 2004, an 8th-grade teacher in Brookline, MA, told National Public Radio that the marriage ruling had opened up the floodgates for teaching homosexuality. “In my mind, I know that, `OK, this is legal now.' If somebody wants to challenge me, I'll say, `Give me a break. It's legal now,'” she told NPR.
  • By the following year it was in elementary school curricula. Kindergartners were given picture books telling them that same-sex couples are just another kind of family, like their own parents.
  • Second graders at the same school were read a book, “King and King”, about two men who have a romance and marry each other, with a picture of them kissing.
  • A federal judge has ruled that the schools now have a duty to portray homosexual relationships as normal to children, despite what parents think or believe!
  • A man undergoing a sex-change operation and cross-dressing was being brought into class to teach the children that there are now “different kinds of families.” (more)

Obama's False Medicare Claim

From FactCheck.org:

He accuses McCain of proposing to cut benefits. Not true.
Summary
In a TV ad and in speeches, Obama is making bogus claims that McCain plans to cut $880 billion from Medicare spending and to reduce benefits.
A TV spot says McCain's plan requires "cuts in benefits, eligibility or both."
Obama said in a speech that McCain plans "cuts" that would force seniors to "pay more for your drugs, receive fewer services, and get lower quality care."

Update, Oct. 21: A second Obama ad claims that McCain’s plan would bring about a 22 percent cut in benefits, “higher premiums and co-pays," and more expensive prescription drugs.

These claims are false, and based on a single newspaper report that says no such thing. McCain's policy director states unequivocally that no benefit cuts are envisioned. McCain does propose substantial "savings" through such means as cutting fraud, increased use of information technology in medicine and better handling of expensive chronic diseases. Obama himself proposes some of the same cost-saving measures. We're skeptical that either candidate can deliver the savings they promise, but that's no basis for Obama to accuse McCain of planning huge benefit cuts.

Couple Finds Unauthorized Charge on Credit Card from Obama Campaign

Voter fraud, fraudulent donations, crefit card fraud, denying relationships with terrorists, criminals, communists, radicals... Hmm, is there a pattern here? And keyed from Chicago...

KSDK -- At least four credit card holders in Missouri have recently opened their statements and found unauthorized transactions, which charged $2,300 to the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama.
It happened to Tom Brown and his wife a couple weeks ago. They became aware of it after Discover sent them an e-mail about an unusually large purchase.
"My wife said, 'Oh my God!' Right away, she called Discover to cancel the card," Brown said. "I talked to Discover about it, and they said it looks like it was keyed in from Chicago."

The Joe-the-Plumber vote is bigger than you think

Keep the faith and vote like your contry depends on it. It just might..
From American Thinker:

Joe the Plumber did more than add some levity to the last presidential debate. Joe, aka Joe Wurzelbacher of Ohio, just may have awakened a swing bloc of voters that could make the difference in this election. This voting group can be described as "the rich" and those who aspire to be, and believe it or not, they could actually represent more than 20 percent of the electorate....

Basketball & A Political Metaphor

Political metaphor? Let's hope it plays out. Kumor and insight from CMR...

Media Bias and Biden's Bungles

From the NYPost:
...Biden is teling us that, at a time when Americans need to feel confidence in their government, they will be going "Oh my God." Not a great message.
Needless to say, if Sarah Palin said this about a McCain administration, the media world would be exploding.
Whether you believe Biden is exaggerating, as he is known to do, or is providing real insight, the double standard in the media does even more damage to their lagging brand.
Part of the problem is their "Obama love," but we're also seeing the media elite's belief - prejudice - that anyone with an R behind their name is dumb. So, if they say something dumb, they must be dumb. A Democrat, like Biden, can make wildly inaccurate or outrageous comments and they are ignored because the TV and press insiders feel they "know who he really is."
On the stump recently, Sen. Biden declared he had "three words" for what the nation needs: "J-O-B-S."
Lucky for him, his name isn't Dan Quayle, or that would have followed him for the rest of his career.

Obama and abortion: The truth lies in his record

From the St Louis Today Newspaper:
Among Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's many political talents is his ability to recalibrate his message to the tastes of different audiences. This gift for niche-messaging sometimes gets him into trouble — just ask those God-fearing, gun-clinging, small-town folks in Pennsylvania — but it also allows Obama to position himself as a candidate who transcends divisions despite a rigidly partisan record.Nowhere is Obama's skill at squaring contradictions more evident than on abortion. It is the rare presidential candidate who is adept enough at spinning his abortion record to win a historic endorsement from Planned Parenthood and earn a perfect voting score from NARAL Pro-Choice America, while also inspiring supporters to build websites proclaiming him the race's "pro-life" candidate. Those websites are run by Democratic partisans whose commitment to defending the right to life of the unborn generally ranks far behind their commitment to seeing the electoral map awash in blue. Still, their brashness in defending Obama's pro-life credentials is remarkable. Listening to them, you never would know that Obama supports taxpayer-funded abortions, opposed legislation aimed at protecting babies who survive late-term abortions and has pledged to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate virtually all federal, state and local restrictions on abortion.(more)

A chronicle of past voter fraud over at Spectator and how they've gotten better and more pervasive...

Extensive voter fraud has persisted to this day. Former Justice Department official Hans von Spakovsky discusses in a recent Heritage Foundatioin report a shocking 1982 election for Governor in Illinois in which 10% of the votes cast in Chicago, 100,000 overall, were found to be fraudulent by a federal grand jury investigation that produced 63 criminal convictions for vote fraud. Spakovsky writes:
What particularly struck FBI agent Ernest Locker was how routine vote fraud was for the precinct captains, election judges, poll watchers, and political party workers he interviewed. They had been taught how to steal votes (and elections) by their predecessors, who had in turn been taught by their predecessors.
One primary method of perpetuating such fraud was for impersonators to vote in the name of dead people, people who had moved away, and fraudulently registered names. Impersonators were sometimes paid in cigarettes, liquor, or cash, known in the trade as "walking around money." Votes for a straight Democrat ticket, regardless of the actual voter's preferences, were also cast for the elderly, the disabled, and the sick who were unaware of what was going on. Then Chicago U.S. Attorney Dan Webb estimated that 80,000 illegal aliens were registered to vote in the city at the time, and that was 25 years ago.
Precinct captains filled out absentee ballots obtained by others, and absentee ballots with Republican votes were trashed. Another method was to alter the vote count by repeatedly running straight party line ballots through the counting machine, or altering the counting machine vote totals.

Pennsylvania Elections Boss Is ACORN Ally

According to American Spectator :
The man appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell to oversee the security and fairness of Pennsylvania elections has been discovered to be an ally of ACORN. Rendell, a Democrat, is a leading Obama supporter.
And oh look, now they've hooked up with MSNBC/NBC:

MSNBC has launched a news project with a variety of left-wing special interest groups to boost their Election Day coverage and help viewers experiencing problems at the polls. One of the groups involved in MSNBC's "Election Protection" project is the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now. ACORN has been involved in rampant voter registration fraud across the nation this election cycle and is actively supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama for president. (more here)
Boy, don't that just send a tingle down your leg...

"Obama needs ACORN, and we need Obama."

$31 million in taxpayer money and the deomocrats tried to put more in the first bail-out package.
From Investors Business Dailey:
That the greatest attempt at voter fraud in the nation's history is being funded in large part at taxpayer's expense is more than a bit ironic. House Minority Leader John Boehner wants it stopped and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, wants the group allegedly behind the fraud, ACORN, criminally investigated and prosecuted.
ACORN calls itself a "nonpartisan" group seeking to register minorities and the poor. But its political arm has endorsed Barack Obama, who both trained the group's staff and sued the state of Illinois on their behalf. And Obama's campaign has given ACORN affiliates $800,000 for a get-out-the-vote drive.
In fact, it's a get-out-the-vote for Obama drive as evidenced by a video recently aired by Fox News that showed just how "nonpartisan" the group is. It was taken at ACORN's national convention where Rep. Maxine Waters spoke to a sea of ACORN organizers wearing their uniform of red baseball caps and shirts.
Waters, to great applause and cheers, said: "This has been the worst presidency that this country has ever known. But that's all right. We're getting rid of his (President Bush's) ass. He's got to go."
The next speaker, an ACORN representative defined who "we" meant. She said: "We're getting Obama for president! Obama needs us, ACORN, but we need Obama. Don't we? Yeah!"

On the Death of Journalism- An open letter to the local daily paper

From the Ornery American:
A letter we'd all like to write. A Eulogy for what's left of journalistic integrity.
Excerpt- read the whole thing here. The writer, Orson Scott Card is a science fiction writer, political writer and speaker/
...If you had any principles, then surely right now, when the American people are set to blame President Bush and John McCain for a crisis they tried to prevent, and are actually shifting to approve of Barack Obama because of a crisis he helped cause, you would be laboring at least as hard to correct that false impression.
Your job, as journalists, is to tell the truth. That's what you claim you do, when you accept people's money to buy or subscribe to your paper.
But right now, you are consenting to or actively promoting a big fat lie -- that the housing crisis should somehow be blamed on Bush, McCain, and the Republicans. You have trained the American people to blame everything bad -- even bad weather -- on Bush, and they are responding as you have taught them to.
If you had any personal honor, each reporter and editor would be insisting on telling the truth -- even if it hurts the election chances of your favorite candidate.
Because that's what honorable people do. Honest people tell the truth even when they don't like the probable consequences. That's what honesty means. That's how trust is earned.
Barack Obama is just another politician, and not a very wise one. He has revealed his ignorance and naivete time after time -- and you have swept it under the rug, treated it as nothing.

Obama funded extremist Afrocentrists who shared Rev. Wright’s anti-Americanism

And what a surprise there is Ayers again...
From NRO:
It looks like Jeremiah Wright was just the tip of the iceberg. Not only did Barack Obama savor Wright’s sermons, Obama gave legitimacy — and a whole lot of money — to education programs built around the same extremist anti-American ideology preached by Reverend Wright. And guess what? Bill Ayers is still palling around with the same bitterly anti-American Afrocentric ideologues that he and Obama were promoting a decade ago. All this is revealed by a bit of digging, combined with a careful study of documents from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the education foundation Obama and Ayers jointly led in the late 1990s. So Called "Smears" About Obama Largely True

At least journalism still has some life in it over at Newsmax:
The Obama campaign says its candidate is a victim of “smears” — and has even created a Web site to fight such attacks.
But a Newsmax investigation finds many of the so-called smears are largely based in truth — and the Obama campaign uses half-truths, clever language, and ad hominem attacks to spin the facts.
Obama’s www.FightTheSmears.com focuses mainly on anti-Obama messages being repeated on the Internet and talk radio, the only media where Obama's ideological allies are not dominant.
These "smears" and the Obama rebuttals are often framed in lawyerly language that leaves much wiggle room in the candidate’s answers.
FightTheSmears.com also makes no attempt at objectivity, describing Obama’s critics as “pushing misleading research and distorted claims” because they are “ideologues” busy “spreading a ‘pack of lies’ about Barack.” ...

Here is an example:

...Claim No. 4: Obama has close ties with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), a group suspected of massive voter registration fraud.
Obama’s site says the candidate was never an ACORN employee and that ACORN “was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive [Obama] ran in 1992.”

As Newsmax has documented in ["Clever Obama Tries To Bury ACORN Past,"]

Obama’s Web site is attempting to deceive when it says Obama was never “hired” to work as a trainer for ACORN’s leaders. In fact, he did the work for free from at least 1993 until 2003.

ACORN spokesman Lewis Goldberg acknowledges in the Oct. 11, 2008, New York Times that Obama trained ACORN leaders. And Obama worked as a lawyer for ACORN.

As to heading up Project Vote in Illinois, Obama said during a speech to ACORN leaders last November, "[When] I ran the Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack-dab in the middle of it.”

Veteran journalist Karen Tumulty described Project Vote in the Oct. 18, 2004, issue of Time magazine as “a nonpartisan arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now” after interviewing its national director.

The co-founder of ACORN, former Students for a Democratic Society official Wade Rathke, described Project Vote as one of ACORN’s “family of organizations.”

Over the years, ACORN and its front groups, like the one Obama ran in Illinois, have registered more than 4 million voters. When authorities in Virginia checked ACORN registrations, it found that 83 percent were fraudulent or had problems. This, in theory, could mean ACORN may have created the opportunity for stealing more than 3.3 million votes in this November’s election, a margin far wider than that by which Obama is likely to win.

Obama's Abortion Extremism

After an excellent refutation of the argument that "reasonable people can disagree on this issue" by comparing the arguments on abortion and how hollow they would be if used in the case of slavery he goes on to show that Obama's position is extreme in it's lack of boundaries..
Robert George writes at the Witherspoon Institute: (you can follow the link from the MereComments site which first pointed this out)

...But this barely scratches the surface of Obama's extremism. He has promised that "the first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act" (known as FOCA). This proposed legislation would create a federally guaranteed "fundamental right" to abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, including, as Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia has noted in a statement condemning the proposed Act, "a right to abort a fully developed child in the final weeks for undefined 'health' reasons."...

...It gets worse.
Obama, unlike even many "pro-choice" legislators, opposed the ban on partial-birth abortions when he served in the Illinois legislature and condemned the Supreme Court decision that upheld legislation banning this heinous practice. He has referred to a baby conceived inadvertently by a young woman as a "punishment" that she should not endure. He has stated that women's equality requires access to abortion on demand. Appallingly, he wishes to strip federal funding from pro-life crisis pregnancy centers that provide alternatives to abortion for pregnant women in need. There is certainly nothing "pro-choice" about that. ...

And even worse

...He has co-sponsored a bill-strongly opposed by McCain-that would authorize the large-scale industrial production of human embryos for use in biomedical research in which they would be killed. In fact, the bill Obama co-sponsored would effectively require the killing of human beings in the embryonic stage that were produced by cloning. It would make it a federal crime for a woman to save an embryo by agreeing to have the tiny developing human being implanted in her womb so that he or she could be brought to term. This "clone and kill" bill would, if enacted, bring something to America that has heretofore existed only in China-the equivalent of legally mandated abortion....

Can it get still worse? Yes...follow the link here to the Witherspoon site to find out just how bad..

FEC Should Start Obama Audit Now- NY Times finds nearly 3,000 questionable donations

Very, scary stuff folks. We are sleep walking into a bad, bad place...From the DCExaminer:
...But then Times reporters Michael Luc and Griff Palmer revealed an incredible level of naivety by stating “it is unclear why someone making a political donation would want to enter a false name.”
Unclear? What other motive could there be for using a phony name and a nonexistent address to make multiple small donations using a single credit card than to evade U.S. election laws? Such journalistic gullibility may explain why bloggers have been on this story for months and the Times is only now noticing. The Atlas Shrugged blog first broke the story of such suspicious donors behind Obama back in July after noticing little gems like this in the Illinois senator’s official FEC filings:
Name: Hbkjb, jkbkjCity: JkbjnjWorks for: Kuman Bank Occupation: Balanon JalalanAmount: $1,077.23
In case you are wondering, there is no such thing as the Kuman Bank. It is difficult to see how the Obama campaign could have mistakenly accepted such an obviously duplicitous donation - and thousands more like it - in good faith. Yet the campaign is now claiming to be the victim of “Internet fraud.”
Then there’s the question of whether foreign nationals are contributing to the Obama campaign. There is more than enough evidence to warrant a full-scale investigation by the Federal Election Commission, including the $32,332.19 that appears to have come from two brothers living in a Hamas-controlled Palestinian refugee camp in Rafah, GA (that’s Gaza, not Georgia). The brothers’ cash is part of a flood of illegal foreign contributions accepted by the Obama campaign. Potentially at issue, according to a complaint filed last week by the Republican National Committee, is as much as half of the $427 million he’s already collected.

McCain Was Right and Obama was Wrong-Again

From National Review:
Last June, five Supreme Court justices dreamed up a constitutional right for aliens held as enemy combatants to challenge their wartime detention in court. Now the bitter fruits of the Boumediene decision are plain to see: In Washington, a federal judge has ordered the release — into the United States — of 17 men captured near Tora Bora after the American invasion of Afghanistan. 10 Reasons to Vote Against Obama and For McCain

From WND:

  1. Life-Experts agree the next president will appoint the deciding vote on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade and RESTORE legal protection to children in the womb or continue the killing for decades to come.
  2. Marriage- Barack Obama
has promised to strike down the federal Defense of Marriage Act (signed by President Clinton, and previously supported by Sen. Joe Biden). He "supported" the California Supreme Court that redefined
marriage to conform to the homosexual agenda and is on record opposing the California (and Florida) marriage amendments that would restore protection to marriage between one man and one woman.
  3. Your Money-While Obama is gaining in the polls from the economic collapse, he has received more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than anyone else except the chairman of the Banking Committee, Sen. Chris Dodd. Obama received more than $126,000 after serving in the Senate only four years. Watch it for yourself. It was Sen. John McCain who stood on the floor of the Senate calling for more regulations for Fannie and Freddie while the Democrats blocked all the Republican efforts to provide oversight and regulations. Among Obama's economic advisers is none other than former Fannie Mae CEO Franklin Raines. By the way, Obama will reverse the Bush tax cuts, which means a tax increase for every single one of us.
  4. Your Health
  5. Israel-Obama supporters include the enemies of Israel and enemies of America. Terrorists from al-Qaida to Hamas to Hezbollah , to Islamic Jihad to the Muslim Brotherhood. Palestinians are hosting phone banks for Obama, not to mention donating to the campaign in such numbers that even the FEC has taken notice.
  6. Freedom-The Democrats in Congress have already announced their plans to shut down Christian and conservative talk radio, and with Barack Obama in the White House, they would accomplish their gag-rule goals
  7. Guns-According to the 1996 Independent Voters of Illinois/Independent Precinct Organization general candidate questionnaire, (Politico, March 31, 2008) Obama endorsed outlawing all handguns. He has also supported other bans and limitations on hunting rifles, shotguns and ammunition.
  8. Jobs-Small-business owners prefer a McCain administration over his opponent by a four-to-one margin. Obama's economic policies, such as higher taxes and a fine of an undisclosed amount for not providing health care, would put many small businesses out of business and make it tougher for those remaining businesses to flourish and expand, leading to a reduction in jobs. He also supports penalizing corporations, who, by the way, also provide jobs – at least until Obama's attempt to use them to redistribute wealth sends them packing.
  9. Energy-Obama won't drill, and is against nuclear power.
  10. National Security

Our very civilization is at stake, and the presidency is not the place for on-the-job training. We must blow the trumpet and warn our nation, or as Ezekiel proclaims, the blood will be on our hands! How to Steal Ohio

Frightening things are happening and without the press, since it has become lapdog instead of our watchdog. Dark days are ahead I fear.
American Thinker:
...Meet Jennifer Brunner, Ohio's real life Secretary of State, whose actions in the lead up to this election have been so shamefully partisan -- violating both federal and state law in the process -- that it is doubtful any result on Election Day from Ohio is going to be accepted as credible....

...The second thing she did was to issue an advisory opinion advising county election officials that Ohio law does not require that partisan election observers be allowed to observe registration and voting. This is contrary to the practice on election day and a reversal of the 2006 precedent. Two of the largest counties, Montgomery (containing Dayton) and Franklin (containing Columbus), did not allow Republican election observers to enter the polling place. Media, however, were allowed.
Liberals especially cheered this ruling, believing that GOP election monitors "intimidate" minorities and young people in order to keep them from voting. Given the problems with out of state voters and other irregularities that occurred during this 6 day "Golden" period where people can register and vote on the same day, anyone halfway concerned with free and fair elections just might have welcomed election monitors in order to prevent obvious fraud. But Democrats do not appear to care very much about the "fair" part in elections and instead wish to be "free" to violate the law with impunity.
Another insult to the integrity of our election system was Brunner's attempt to prevent thousands of McCain absentee ballots from being counted.
Dayton again:
Brunner also tried to throw out absentee ballot applications sent out by the McCain campaign because the campaign added an extra check-box to the application. This time, the GOP won in court. Clearly Brunner was not protecting everyone's right to vote. If that was her interest, she would have applied the same lax standards to the McCain campaign's applications that she applies to absentee voting.
The Republicans took that one to court and prevailed. Thank the Lord for small favors. And it appeared very briefly that Republicans had won a stunning court victory on Thursday when a US District Judge ruled that Brunner must verify the registrations by checking them against the motor vehicle and social security databases. She was also ordered to share the information on how to verify registrations with Ohio's 88 county registrars.
But a federal appeals court struck down the
district judge's ruling:
Brunner argued that it would take two to three days to create the necessary computer programs, and that nothing in the Help America Vote Act required her to do what the district court ordered. The appeals court agreed in a split decision. "With less than a month until the election, and less than two weeks until the beginning of counting absentee ballots, the secretary cannot be required to undertake the extensive reprogramming and other changes to the election mechanics without complete disruption of the electoral process in Ohio," the majority said in its opinion. "The irreparable harm to the voting public caused by the district court's order is equally clear."
No word on the "irreparable harm" done to the integrity of the election process by Brunner, Obama, and the rest of the Democrats in Ohio.
Then, of course, there are the vastly more entertaining antics of ACORN in Ohio. One must give credit where credit is due. ACORN should win some kind of award for its spectacular creativity in finding new ways to game the system and flood it with false, forged, and illegal voter registration applications.
First, it is important to recall that the Obama campaign funneled more than $800,000 to ACORN and then tried to hide it by designating it as payment to "Citizens Services, Inc." for work such as $310,000 for "Stage, Sound, and Lighting."
Michelle Malkin looked deeper into this fraud and found some startling facts: (more)

Barack Obama's Pattern of False Statements on Bill Ayers

More Obama lies and the media cover up for Obama.
From John Lott author of Freedomnomics and a senior research scholar at the University of Maryland. The article is over at Fox:
Obama's claims that “I have not received some official endorsement from” and “not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis” are both wrong. True, Ayers has not publicly endorsed Obama during the current presidential campaign, but Ayers opened his home to Obama very early in his first campaign for the Illinois state Senate and threw a fundraiser for him. Undoubtedly, that counts as some type of official endorsement.
The issue of not exchanging ideas regularly is clearly wrong, too. Ayers and Obama served on two boards together: the Chicago Annenberg Challenge from 1995 to 2001 and the Woods Foundation from 1993 to 2002. For the first five years with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, Obama served as chairman of the board and handled its fiscal matters. Ayers was the Chicago Annenberg Challenge’s founder and he served as the chairman of the foundation’s other body that set education policy. Since they served together with a foundation that gave out over $100 million to groups that they both generally agreed with, there had to be some regular exchange of and agreement on ideas.
Agreement on views seemed particularly crucial, since Ayers hardly has what most Americans would consider “traditional” views on education. The Chicago Annenberg Challenge gave money to infuse students with a radical political commitment. Just in 2006, Ayers told Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez that, “We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution.” Ayers apparently told an author, who was writing a book on 1960s radicals shortly before the foundation was set up in 1995, that “I’m a radical, Leftist, small ‘c’ communist.”
None of the media fact checkers evaluated either of these two claims
. Instead, for example, the Washington Post Fact Check focused on whether Ayers was a professor of English or education citing the New York Times story's claim that the "two men do not appear to have been close." Nor do any of these media critics mention Obama’s comparison to Coburn, which makes it appear that the relationship between Ayers and Obama was about as close as senators from different political parties at the opposite ends of the political spectrum. Obama to Plumber: My Plan Will 'Spread the Wealth Around'

From FoxNews:
Barack Obama told a tax-burdened plumber over the weekend that his economic philosophy is to "spread the wealth around" -- a comment that may only draw fire from riled-up John McCain supporters who have taken to calling Obama a "socialist" at the Republican's rallies.
Obama made the remark, caught on camera, after fielding some tough questions from the plumber Sunday in Ohio, where the Democratic candidate canvassed neighborhoods and encouraged residents to vote early.
"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed "more and more for fulfilling the American dream."
"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too," Obama responded. "My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody

...the year Ayers’s Weathermen tried to murder me.

From John M. Murtagh at City Journal about the man who tried to murder him:

...Though never a supporter of Obama, I admired him for a time for his ability to engage our imaginations, and especially for his ability to inspire the young once again to embrace the political system. Yet his myopia in the last few months has cast a new light on his “politics of change.”

Nobody should hold the junior senator from Illinois responsible for his friends’ and supporters’ violent terrorist acts.
But it is fair to hold him responsible for a startling lack of judgment in his choice of mentors, associates, and friends, and for showing a callous disregard for the lives they damaged and the hatred they have demonstrated for this country.

It is fair, too, to ask what those choices say about Obama’s own beliefs, his philosophy, and the direction he would take our nation. (read more here)

I think he's right. How about you?

Obama the Stealth Candidate

From Townhall:
...Conservatives were very much opposed to Bill Clinton for myriad reasons, but with decades in elective office in Arkansas, at least he wasn't a stealth candidate. Though rumors and mysteries abounded, Clinton was hardly a blank slate who emerged out of nowhere.
Obama is different. He burst onto the political scene and has risen with such alacrity that even many of his supporters don't have a clue what he's about or where he would take America.
It's no wonder the conspiracy types are whispering that he's the Manchurian candidate. It's not as if he's embracing his past; it's more as if he's concealing it, and for good reason. People have a right to know just how radical this man is because America's destiny is in the balance. ...

Obama Lies Again

No doubt you've heard the Obama campaign deny his association with ACORN. Well, as with many other examples he is lying himself. Over at Israpundit you have this:

Obama’s claim “Obama Never Organized with ACORN” Proven Untrue
Toni Foulkes, (ACORN organizer) “Case Study: Chicago-The Barack Obama Campaign,” Social Policy, 10/18/04)
Since then, we have invited Obama to our leadership training sessions to run the session on power every year, and, as a result, many our newly developing leaders got to know him before he ever ran tor office. Thus, it was natural for many of us to be active volunteers in his first campaign tor State Senate and then his failed bid for U.S. Congress in 1996. By the time he ran for U.S. Senate, we were old friends.
But hey, don't just take a blogs word for it. You can also look here at this back issue of Chicago Reader:
Another strong supporter of Obama's work--as an organizer, as a lawyer, and now as a candidate--is Madeline Talbott, lead organizer of the feisty ACORN community organization, a group that's a thorn in the side of most elected officials. "I can't repeat what most ACORN members think and say about politicians. But Barack has proven himself among our members. He is committed to organizing, to building a democracy. Above all else, he is a good listener, and we accept and respect him as a kindred spirit, a fellow organizer."
Obama continues his organizing work largely through classes for future leaders identified by ACORN and the Centers for New Horizons on the south side.

According to the NY Times ,Project Vote was/is an arm of ACORN:
"I get about 30 new voters or changes of address in six hours," said Ms. Green, who was hired by Project Vote, the nonpartisan arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or Acorn. "I used to get 16 in 45 minutes, but now everyone's registered."
and so does Time:
"We don't bring 300 kids from Ohio State University into the inner city of Columbus," says David Leland, national director of Project Vote, a nonpartisan arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), which claims it has registered more than 50,000 voters in the Columbus area.
