You go from preaching to meddling when, for example, you assert that the Natural Family has a “quiverful” of children; that it requires a permanent, unbreakable bond between the husband and wife; or that it is marked by what are called “sex roles.” This is too much nature, it is nature untempered by technology and culture, as if you were asking people to go naked in the winter or hunt and kill their own food and eat it raw. full article here

Six years after the terrorist atrocities of 9/11, 15 years after the first attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, 25 years after the bombing of the U.S. Marines barracks in Beirut, and nearly 30 years after the Iranian Revolution — “Death to America!” was its rallying cry — we still can’t agree on what to call those waging war against us. Are they militant Islamists, Islamic fascists, terrorists, extremists, or something else entirely?

Dr. Kenneth Tapping is worried about the sun. Solar activity comes in regular cycles, but the latest one is refusing to start. Sunspots have all but vanished, and activity is suspiciously quiet. The last time this happened was 400 years ago -- and it signaled a solar event known as a "Maunder Minimum," along with the start of what we now call the "Little Ice Age."

Russia threatens to use force over Kosovo
UNITED NATIONS -- The international split over Kosovo grew more ominous Friday as Russia raised the spectre of using force to back its Serb ally's bid to retain the territory.
Russia's envoy to NATO warned both the Western military alliance, which has a 16,000-strong peacekeeping force in Kosovo, and the European Union against formally backing the ethnic-Albanian leadership's declaration of independence from Serbia.

Forget global warming: Welcome to the new Ice Age
As a weather forecaster I always get a chuckle with articles like these. We can't forecast beyond five days and yet we are POSITIVE we are in a warming trend and even more positive we are responsible. It occurs to me there is a certain amount of hubris to go with our false faith in computer models.

The U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reported that many American cities and towns suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January "was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average." full article here

The Obama Enigma
Where would he lead America? I have my thoughts on that and it includes a hand-basket, but here are some others from the Washinton Post..
"THE NATIONAL Journal magazine recently ranked Barack Obama as the most liberal senator in 2007 -- an assessment that is subject to legitimate quibbling but will no doubt be featured by Republicans if Mr. Obama wins the Democratic nomination for president. Democratic voters in a Pew Research Center poll last month put Mr. Obama to their left ideologically, Hillary Rodham Clinton to their right. Are these analyses accurate? When the Illinois Democrat talks about bringing together red and blue America, does he mean that he will persuade the red (Republican) part to come around to blue (Democratic) policies -- or does he mean that he will forge a new, centrist answer that will bridge the red-blue divide? Is he a liberal at heart who tacks occasionally to the center or more of a centrist capable of suppressing leftist instincts when political circumstances demand?" (entire article here)

GOP to Conservatives: Drop Dead
I think this is why Huckabee stays in; to give conservatives a voice. McCain is a better Republican than Huckabee, but Huckabee is the true conservative. Without Huck, conservatives have no voice.

In a very telling headline, The Washington Times recently reported, “McCain Refuses to Pander.” In the first paragraph of the article, the paper said, “John McCain's campaign manager yesterday said the candidate will not pander for conservative support…” Yeah, we know. Kosovo: Islamism's New Beachhead?
My prediction? There will be no peace in the Balkans with an independent Kosovo. An independent Kosovo will be a springboard to increased Islamist violence throughout the region and beyond. I have never been more sure of something in my life.

One of the serious real problems being created out of worries over the phony problem of supposedly man-made global warming is the rush to replace incandescent light bulbs (the kind Thomas Edison invented) with CFL bulbs, which contain mercury. AT has been warning of this since early April last year. But it now appears that even greenies are catching on that they may have unleashed a Frankenstein's monster with the ban on incandescents that will take effect in 2012.
So we'll be cooler but we'll have a mercury problem. Gee, thanks. (full story here)

And within 3 days, by February 15, 2008, confirming the pervasive fear of violent Muslim reprisal that apparently grips Danish society, Westergaard was ejected from his police-protected hotel room having been deemed, "too much of a security risk."
