Well, since the new rules of engagement take away most of a soldier's ability to actually do his duty, it's nice they give him a weapon that will. :)

The ROE has always been quite restrictive. When I worked in the JOC, I was always amazed at the great pains that were taken before we would go after the bad guys. I am all for minimizing civilian deaths, but I am sure that more deaths occur over the long run from fighting with our hands tied, than if we just went in and did what needed to be done.
