Honest Scrap Award

Steve, a.k.a. Magister Christianus , at Bedlam and Parnassus just announced that he has given The Guy In The Window this award. While I suspect this is something like an e-mail chain letter of sorts for blogs and will no doubt be the only thing regarding my blog ever approaching an award I am happy to do this because it does give me the opportunity to thank some people in the blogosphere that have been particularly inspiring and kind.
To wit:
There are some conditions that apply to this award, conditions that I am happy to fulfill.

1) Say "Thanks!" to the presenter of the award and provide a link to their blog.Thank you, Steve! I love your blog and am I honored that you read (and sometimes contribute to) mine. It is the height of irony that my blog has inspired you (I know it wasn't nominated for content :-) since your words, witness and friendship have inspired me since the time we met those many years ago.

2) Share 10 honest things about myself.

  1. I think a fine meal with friends and wine is a worthwhile use of time and money. At least occasionally

  2. I wish I could read Greek and/or Latin.

  3. I do not have cable

  4. I was in quite a few plays back in college but took only one drama class.

  5. I enjoy traveling particularly overseas and still keep in touch with my old landlords.

  6. I enjoy writing and aspire to write better and more often.

  7. I do the cooking for my wife and kids.

  8. I love our two children and my wife more than anything in the world.

  9. I try to truly love the Lord, our God.

  10. I wish I knew what I want to be when I grow up and have 1yr and 3 months till I retire and have to decide.

3) Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me. These would overlap some with Steve's (since I was blogging before him, he actually stole them from me. :-) but I'll come up with seven more.

Here we go: Inscapes for inspiring me to write more, providing a great summer reading list and convincing me (along with my 14yo) to get on Facebook, Creative Minority Report, for news and insight but mostly making me laugh A Banner Is Unfurled, Pomegranate Apple, Beetle Blogger, Pearl Diver, and Secular Heretic among others for fighting the good fight against same sex "pseudogamy" and supporting the family.

4) Inform those 7 that they've been awarded the 'Honest Scrap' Award. I shall do so presently. Thank you again, Steve, for honoring this blog!

Thank you, Eutychus! I am honored. I shall respond to the conditions in a day or two; I am working on a review just now and must have a draft for my writing group Tues. morning.

This is really an insidious plot to keep us all too busy to do any real blogging.

Yet, having been named by our mutual friend, what can I do but respond in kind?

Yes, I know but as I said, it gave me a chance to thank some folks, you included, for all you do and the welcome received to this new...
(obsession?) called blogging.
and he probably wouldn't have done it had it not come from Erin over at "And Sometimes Tea."

Ok, that was interesting. I just tracked back to see who started this one. I got to about June 9 after around 10 links and then lost the trail (no hyperlink).

I'm happy to report that all of you love God and your families, and the half of you that don't love coffee love diet sodas (present company excepted.)

Question: how long will it be before every blogger in the US has received it? Twice?

If you could map all the people who received it twice or more, that would give you a pretty neat map of the most influential or nodal blogs.

I wish I knew more maths and IT.
